Also known as Tongue Ties
Early oral function is key for the proper growth and development of children’s feeding, breathing, speech and overall anatomy. If babies or children have issues or challenges with nursing, swallowing, speech or gaps between their teeth, then a lip or tongue tie may be the cause.
Lip and tongue ties are an issue when the tissue that holds them down (frenulum) is too short, or tight.
Because of this limitation in movement,
your child could be experiencing a multitude of issues such as:
Problems Latching While Breast Feeding
Dribbling from side of Mouth While bottle feeding
Clicking Sound or frequent breaks while feeding
Difficulty sticking out the tongue
speech delays or problems with clear speech
wide spaces between front teeth or front teeth that don't touch
